Wike not first politician to work for opposition party administration : Fayose

A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said his polical ally and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is not the first to serve in the government of an opposition political party.
Mr Fayose, in an interview with AF24 News, said he and Wike supports President Bola Tinubu to frustrate the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Mr Wike, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, is serving as the FCT minister in the administration of President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress.Â
“What we wanted Atiku to do at the time took us to go and support Asiwaju. We have not changed from that support. Wike was appointed a minister, do we say Wike should use the ministerial position to fight the person who appointed you. It won’t work,” Mr Fayose said.
Citing examples of politicians who served in the governments of opposition political parties, Mr Fayose said, “Bola Ige served in Obasanjo’s government. Ebenezer Babatope severed in the government of opposition. So let us look back to history. That does not say when the APC is not doing things right we dont have a voice to talk.”
He added, “I’m a Wike person. I’m telling you till tomorrow, I’m a Wike person. There is no denial. I dont pretend. Wike is not perfect, I’m not perfect. We will still continue to have issues.”
