A 52-year-old man, Chinagwo Paul-Nweke, on Tuesday, appeared before an Abakaliki Chief Magistrates’ Court, over charges of Cyberbullying and threat to life.

The defendant whose address was not provided, was brought before the Magistrate, Sandra Oyibe, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, Cyberbullying and threat to life.

His plea was, however, not taken by the court.

The court ordered a remand of the defendant at the correctional service, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

She adjourned the case until December 9.

The prosecutor, Inspector Eberechukwu Obi, alleged that the defendant committed the offence sometime in October, alongside others now at large.

He was alleged to have conspired to commit Cyberbullying, and threat to life of one Chinedu Ogah.

The defendant was also alleged to have transmitted a live broadcast through the Facebook account of one Amarachi Nweke, to bully the complainant, which placed him in fear of death, violence and bodily harm.

The offence contravenes the provisions of section 516 (a) of the Criminal Law of Ebonyi State, 2009.
