The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the newly appointed Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa.

The party spokesman, Seye Oladejo, in a statement on Friday, stated that Mr Musa’s appointment, beyond being a routine administrative transition, was a renewed national resolve to decisively confront security challenges that had tested Nigeria’s collective existence.

Mr Oladejo said, “General Musa steps into this critical office with a popular mandate built on public confidence, a career steeped in operational experience, and a proven track record in overseeing some of the most complex theatres of security operations in recent history. Nigerians know his name. They know his service. And they know what they expect of him.”

The spokesman noted that the party acknowledged Mr Musa’s firm words of assurance, confidence and commitment to delivering on the ‘humongous national demands and assignment’ before him.

He said, “We join him in calling for the cooperation, understanding, and support of all and sundry – from citizens to security agencies, from communities to institutions – because national security is a collective responsibility. No defence minister, no matter how seasoned, can triumph without a united nation behind him.”

The spokesman added that the party expected the defence minister to reinforce and modernise the armed forces, strengthen intelligence synergy, restore public confidence in national security institutions, as well as lead coordinated offensive that would expose terrorists, criminals and saboteurs.

Hailing President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the party spokesman stated that the defence minister’s appointment, demonstrated the president’s unwavering commitment and political will to overcome insecurity across the country.

He said, “The enemies of Nigeria, those who profit from chaos, those who cheer insecurity as political capital, those who sabotage operations from within – must understand that a new sheriff has arrived at the Defence Headquarters.”
