English Premier League not affected by new COVID-19 lockdown
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday that English Premier League matches will continue during a month-long national lockdown starting next week.
The modified lockdown rule is UK’s measure to push back on the soaring infection rate of the virus.Â
Neighbouring European nations like Belgium, Germany and France have taken similar routes to contain the second wave of the pandemic.
Johnson had in an address said there was a need for a return to the lockdown measure as the pandemic was showing no signs of abating.
Unlike the first national lockdown in March, football and other elite sports would continue through the period of the lockdown, just as other essential services. (Reuters/NAN)
