NPFL: Enugu Rangers wallop Bayelsa United 4-1 in Enugu

Defender Chiedozie Iwundu scored a brace as Rangers International Football Club of Enugu thrashed Bayelsa United of Yenegoa 4-1 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.
The match was the week 16 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) 2025/26 season.
Iwundu struck in the 10th minutes of the game to put the Flying Antelopes ahead.
The ubiquitous defender completed his brace in the 19th minute before the visitors reduced the tally five minutes later.
Rangers continued their dominance and in the 33th minute, veteran Godwin Agu’s free kick made it 3-0.
The home team scored their fourth goal through a solo run by young diminutive striker Chimaobi Igwilo to end the half 4-1.
On resumption of second half , the visitors became more composed , especially in the defence .
All efforts by the home team to increase the tally proved abortive while the visitors did everything to reduce the tally but to no avail.
In a post-match interview, Coach of Bayelsa United, Neremu Okara, described the loss as a bad day for the team.
He said, “I am not happy because we conceded many cheap goals. It is a bad day for the team.”
Coach of Rangers International, Fidelix Illechukwu, said the team would continue to improve with every match.
Mr Illechukwu stated, “We are happy and everybody is happy. We have to work harder to ensure that every department is fortified.”
Rangers now sit on fourth position on the log with 25 points from 16 matches while Bayelsa United is on 14th position with 20 points.
