Kano: Gov Yusuf appoints Bayero as Northwest varsity vice-chancellor

Governor Abba Yusuf has approved the appointment of Amina Bayero as the substantive vice-chancellor of Northwest University, Kano, for a five-year term effective December 1, 2025.
This was announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, on Thursday.
According to Mr Tofa, the appointment followed a recommendation by the university’s governing council after a rigorous selection process.
As a visitor to the university, Mr Yusuf commended the council for its dedication to merit and integrity throughout the selection process.
He also asked for prayers for God’s guidance as Ms Bayero assumed her new role.
Ms Bayero, a distinguished scholar of analytical chemistry, is the first female PhD holder in chemistry from Bayero University, Kano.
She had served as head of department, dean of the Faculty of Science, and deputy vice-chancellor at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano.
