Tinubu submits 2026-2028 MTEF to Senate for approval

President Bola Tinubu has submitted the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) to the Senate for consideration and approval.
The submission is in line with the regular legislative procedure that precedes the presentation of the annual budget, setting the fiscal parameters for the next three years.
The letter was read by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who presided over Thursday’s plenary.
“It is with pleasure that I forward the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for the kind consideration and approval of the Distinguished Senate.
“The 2026-2028 MTF and FSP were approved during the Federal Executive Council meeting of Dec. 3, 2025,” the letter read in part.
According to the president, the 2026 budget will be prepared based on the parameters and fiscal assumptions of the approved 2026-2028 MTF and FSP.
He, therefore, sought the cooperation of the National Assembly for expeditious legislative action on the submission.
