Seplat Energy appoints Mohammed, Ettah as directors

The board of Seplat Energy has confirmed the appointment of Saidu Mohammed and Larry Ettah as independent non-executive directors, effective from January 1, 2026.
Their appointments followed the resignations of Bello Rabiu and Babs Omotowa in April 2025, after their appointments to the NNPCL board.
The company said the recruitment process was conducted in line with its board succession plan to ensure continuity, strong governance, and strategic oversight.
Mr Mohammed is a seasoned energy executive with over 37 years of experience across Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, particularly in natural gas development and infrastructure.
He previously served as group executive director and chief operating officer (gas and power) at NNPC, leading major gas projects and developing policy frameworks.
His contributions included the Gas Masterplan, the Gas Network Code, and inputs to the Petroleum Industry Act, strengthening Nigeria’s gas commercialisation agenda.
Mr Ettah is a respected business leader with nearly four decades of corporate experience across manufacturing, logistics, food, and consumer sectors. He spent 30 years at UAC of Nigeria Plc, rising from management trainee to group chief executive officer, a position he held between 2007 and 2018.
As CEO, he restructured UACN’s portfolio through global partnerships and led acquisitions, including Livestock Feeds Plc and Portland Paints Plc.
Mr Ettah holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry, an MBA, and executive education from institutions including Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, INSEAD, IMD, and Michigan.
Seplat Energy chairman, Udoma Udo Udoma, said, “We are delighted to welcome Saidu Mohammed and Larry Ettah to the board. Their complementary experience combines deep industry knowledge with proven business leadership, and we look forward to their contributions to Seplat’s strategic growth.”
