Yuletide: Ekiti LG boss urges peaceful celebration, warns youths against fireworks

The chairman of the Ikole Local Government Area in Ekiti, Bayo Omojola, has urged residents to celebrate the yuletide in a peaceful manner and avoid acts that could disturb others.
Mr Omojola gave the advice in an interview with journalists on Sunday in Ikole-Ekiti.
He described the yuletide season as a time to reach out to the less privileged who require medical care, food, shelter and to celebrate with loved ones.
Mr Omojola urged youths to celebrate the season in a modest manner and desist from using fireworks to scare neighbours and residents of their communities.
“I want to appeal to residents, indigenes, especially youths in Ikole local government area, to celebrate in a modest manner.
“Christmas period is a time, we all need to show love to our families, friends and neighbours and not the time to drink to stupor and cause havoc on the streets
“It is on this note that I wish to appeal to parents to caution their children against using fireworks, popularly known as Banger, to disturb the elderly ones and residents of the community,” he said.
Mr Omojola also congratulated the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as he celebrates his 58th birthday.
He described Mr Oyebanji as a special one sent by God, to revive and stabilise the economy and development of Ekiti state.
Mr Omojola prayed that God would grant him good health, wisdom and understanding to pilot the affairs of the state during his second term in office.
