The Nigerian Army 4 Special Forces, Doma, Nasarawa, has called for a deeper collaboration among security agencies to tackle insecurity and enhance peaceful coexistence within the North-Central region.

Its commandant, Olurotimi Azubuike-Awolo, made the call at an event to commemorate the 2025 West African Social Activities on Sunday in Doma.

Mr Azubuike-Awolo expressed the army’s commitment to working with other security agencies towards fighting terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other forms of security challenges in the region.

The commandant, who underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing insecurity, said that the army alone cannot tackle the complex security challenges in the region.

“Collaboration will enable the security agencies to leverage on each other’s strengths to enhance intelligence gathering, launch offensive attacks on the criminals with a view to promoting and sustaining peace and stability in the region and the country in general,” he said.

The commandant explained that, in line with the chief of army staff’s command philosophy, his command had achieved remarkable results in combating crime and criminality within its areas of responsibility.

He particularly commended his troops for exhibiting a high standard of professionalism during training exercises and corresponding operational activities within their areas of responsibility.

“It is remarkable to note that the command and the ancillary, Operation Whirl Stroke, had an eventful 2025. It is also gratifying to state that we completed all training schedules as reflected in the army headquarters’ forecast of events for the year, notwithstanding some glaring challenges within the period.

“These are in addition to other covert and overt inter-agency collaborative operations carried out under Operation Whirl Stroke and within other formations and units the 4 special command is supporting in all theatres of operation across the country, which is highly commendable.

“We have made remarkable improvements in our operational and administrative performances, especially in the areas bordering on training and other requisite interventions that boosted troops’ fighting morale,” he added.

Mr Azubuike-Awolo described the WASA annual event as an age-long tradition in the army, traceable to the pre-independence period.

He further explained that the annual event aimed to provide a conducive atmosphere for officers, soldiers, and their families, as well as civilian friends, to interact and make merry.

He also noted that the event aimed to promote comradeship, deepen esprit de corps, and strengthen unity among personnel of the Nigerian Army, their families, and other members of society.

Governor Abdullahi Sule thanked the military and other security agencies for their efforts in maintaining law and order and ensuring peace in the state and beyond.

The governo promised to continually support the security agencies with operational vehicles and other logistics to ensure optimal performance.

He attributed the relative peace in the state to the relentless efforts of the Nigerian army and other security agencies and promised deeper collaboration towards a peaceful state.
