Yuletide: Kwara police deploy tactical units

The Kwara Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, says it has set up robust security measures across the state to ensure safety of lives and property during the festivities
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ilorin by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
He said that the deployment of personnel affirms the command’s readiness and commitment to sustaining public safety and confidence during the festive period.
According to him, the measures are in line with the police’s security architecture for the yuletide season, as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He said that visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols and targeted operations had been intensified across places of worship, markets, recreational and event centres, motor parks, highways and other public spaces.
“Tactical and specialised units are on heightened alert, with sustained surveillance and raids ongoing in identified blackspots and flashpoints.
“Deployed officers have been directed to remain professional, firm and courteous in the discharge of their duties,” he said.
Mr Ojo assured residents of the command’s resolve to maintain peace and security during the festive season.
The commissioner enjoined members of the public to remain vigilant, celebrate responsibly and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s control room numbers: 07032069501 and 08125275046.
He wished residents a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
