Operatives attached to the Olorunda Aba Division of the Oyo State Police Command, on Christmas Day, arrested one of two suspects fleeing with a motorcycle they hijacked from two victims in Adanla Area, Eniosa.

Spokesperson for the command, Ayanlade Olayinka, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspect was nabbed after he fell off the motorcycle they were both riding to evade arrest, but his accomplice escaped into the bush and abandoned the stolen motorcycle.

Mr Ayandele said, “On 25th December, 2025, at about 10:30 p.m., operatives of the Olorunda Aba Division responded promptly to a distress report of a robbery incident at Adanla Area, Eniosa, Olorunda Aba. Two armed suspects, riding an unregistered motorcycle and wielding machetes, reportedly attacked and dispossessed two victims—Mutiu Adeyemo (male) and Akinpelu Ojo (male)—of their TVS motorcycle while they were returning home.

“Consequently, upon sighting the police patrol team, the suspects attempted to flee with both their motorcycle and the stolen one, which led to a hot pursuit. During the chase, one of the suspects abandoned the stolen motorcycle and escaped into a nearby bush, while the second suspect, later identified as Sunday Onah (male), fell from the motorcycle while attempting to evade arrest and was successfully apprehended by the patrol team.

“Following his arrest, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and admitted that he and his accomplice had been involved in similar criminal activities in the past. The stolen motorcycle was also successfully recovered and secured as an exhibit.”

Stating that efforts were on to arrest the fleeing suspect as investigation into the case had been intensified, the state police spokesperson said the nabbed suspect would be charged to court.

The state Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, also directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for detailed and comprehensive investigation.
