Four men arraigned over alleged document forgery

The police in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, charged four men before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, over alleged forgery of documents.
The defendants are Wasiu Adeyemo, 59; Mosebolatan Jekodale, 47; Yusuf Ademola, 38; and Taofeek Giwa, 44.
The defendants whose addresses were not provided, were charged with conspiracy, forgery and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adeshina FolaranmI, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometimes in November at the Agbowo area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendants unlawfully forged an Oyo State Road tax clearance certificate as well as an Oyo State Delivery Vehicle License, 2026, for sale.
He alleged that the defendants also forged Oyo State Internal Revenue Certificates 2026, Urban Access Pass 2026, Driver’s and Conductor’s Badges 2026, and many other documents.
He alleged that the defendants forged the documents without approval of the Oyo State signage and advertisement agency.
He said that the offences contravenes the provisons of sections 249(d), 467 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendants bail in the sum of one million naira each, with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until January 27, for hearing. (NAN)
