Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged the federal government to address the discrepancies between the tax laws passed by lawmakers and the gazetted version.

National chairman of IPAC, Yusuf Dantalle, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said that resolving the matter in the national interest was essential for credibility and rule of law.

According to him, what is worth doing is worth doing well, urging strict adherence to the rule of law by all elected officials.

Mr Dantalle urged INEC to adequately prepare for the 2027 general elections and ensure a level-playing field for all political parties to enhance transparent, credible and peaceful processes.

He also called on the electoral body to maintain neutrality, conduct test runs and avoid glitches capable of undermining public confidence in future elections.

The IPAC national chairman enjoined on politicians to embrace issue-based politics, shun violence and vote buying, and promote peaceful democratic competition across all levels of government.

He called for active participation by Nigerians in the upcoming elections, including FCT polls, Ekiti and Osun governorship contests and the 2027 general elections.

While calling for patriotism, unity and collective responsibility, Dantalle urged citizens to strengthen democracy and improve national life in the coming year peacefully.

According to him, nation-building requires collective efforts, adding that every citizen has a role in promoting peace, justice and prosperity.

Mr Dantalle reaffirmed IPAC’s commitment to working with INEC and other stakeholders to deepen democracy, ensure credible elections and strengthen national stability.

He stressed the need for prayers for democracy, security and development in the new year, encouraging optimism and confidence in Nigeria’s future.
