Gov. Abiodun hails Tinubu’s commitment to national security

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, on Sunday, commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to safeguarding lives and property under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Mr Abiodun gave the commendation during a special church service to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, in Abeokuta.
The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said that the federal government had taken decisive steps to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture, improve intelligence coordination, and enhance inter-agency collaboration.
He added that the federal government had also boosted welfare and provided modern equipment for the armed forces, adding that the efforts were already yielding positive results.
Mr Abiodun urged citizens to support the government’s initiatives to promote peace and unity in the country.
“Marking the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration has placed a responsibility on all of us, not just to remember our fallen heroes, but to renew our duty to uphold the values they defended.
“It is a moment of thanksgiving, remembrance, reflection, and renewed national responsibility,” he said.
Mr Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of serving officers, veterans, and families of fallen heroes.
“This administration will continue to support our servicemen and families of our fallen heroes; supporting them is not charity, but a duty we owe as a nation,” he said.
In his sermon titled “Greater Love: The Sacrifice of the Service Men,” the bishop of the Christ Chapel of Grace and Mercy, Samson Popoola, said the peace enjoyed in the country was paid for by the sacrifices of military personnel.
He described the celebration as a moment of sober reflection, noting that the sacrifices of servicemen extended beyond the battlefield, as many were often absent from important family moments.
“Sacrifice was the only language of true love, and that was what the servicemen have done for us,” he said.
Mr Popoola urged the government to continue prioritising the welfare of the families of fallen heroes while urging citizens to show them love and support.
