Trump govt revoked over 100,000 visas of Nigerians, others in one year: Official
President Donald Trump’s administration has revoked over 100,000 visas of foreigners, including Nigerians, in its first year in office.
The U.S. Department of State announced this development in a statement on Monday.
“The State Department has now revoked over 100,000 visas,” the U.S. Department of State announced on Monday.
The department said the revoked visas include “some 8,000 student visas and 2,500 specialised visas for individuals who had encounters with U.S. law enforcement for criminal activity.”
Vowing to revoke more visas and deport more aliens to keep America safe, the U.S. Department of State said, “We will continue to deport these thugs to keep America safe.”
The number of visa revocations under Mr Trump’s first year in office is an all-time high, twice the number recorded under former President Joe Biden in 2024.
Mr Trump, who returned to the White House in January 2025, had promised during his campaign to carry out America’s largest deportation programme.
