AFCON: Wednesday’s match against Morocco excites us, says Alex Iwobi

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has said that the players are excited ahead of their high-profile 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal clash against Morocco.
The Fulham midfielder, who has been one of the most important for the Eagles in the tournament, stated this during the pre-match press conference in Rabat on Tuesday.
“We did well against Algeria. We respect every opponent. Algeria was very good but now we are excited with the challenge we have tomorrow. We would be ready for the game,” Iwobi said.
Commenting on the improvement in his performance in Morocco compared to previous tournaments, which earned him praise among football fans in Nigeria, the 29-year-old attributed the progress to the brotherhood bond the players had established.
“For me I feel like the difference is the sense of brotherhood,” Iwobi stated. “The family environment that we have created for each other. Of course the previous AFCON, we did very well, the team has been so strong but at the same time, we were learning about each other.”
He added, “I feel like now that everybody is entering their prime and we are doing very well for our respective clubs. On and off the pitch, there is a big unity in the squad. It starts from the coach to the players so it has brought that brotherhood.
“We are one big family and you can see on the pitch that we are fighting for each other so I feel like that is bringing out the best not just in me but all the players.”
