Woman sues husband’s relative over alleged defamation

A middle aged woman, Amina Abdullahi, on Tuesday, dragged one of her husband’s relative, Isma’il Bello before a Shari’a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over alleged defamation of character.
The complainant, who spoke through her counsel, Dalhatu Abdulrahman, explained that Bello has been calling her names ever since she had a case in a court regarding child custody.
“He says she’s not a God fearing woman and does not obey God and Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). He has been spreading it to her in-laws which is causing tension between them,” the counsel said.
The counsel prayed the court to punish the accused accordingly.
Oh his part, the defendant, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, denied the allegation, saying that they were untrue.
The Judge, Mu’awiyya Shehu, granted bail to the accused with a reliable surety and adjourned the case until February 8, for the complaint to present witnesses.
