Ekiti Queens trounce Pacesetter Queens 2-0 in Ibadan

Ekiti Queens Football Club on Wednesday defeated Pacesetter Queens of Oyo State 2-0 in match-day 6 of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Premier Football League (NWPFL), played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
Ekiti Queens opened scoring with a sublime strike by Zainab Ismail in the 24th minute, which kept the home side on edge throughout the first half.
Pacesetter Queens missed the chance to equalise when they failed to convert a penalty awarded against their opponents in the 68th minute.
Winifred Eyebhoria doubled the lead for Ekiti Queens in the 82nd minute, sealing a convincing victory over their hosts.
The Pacesetter Queens remain winless after six matches, having played goalless against Heartland Queens last week.
Ekiti Queens, on the other hand, extended their winning streak that began with a 1-0 victory over Naija Ratels FC on match-day five.
Despite expanding to 20 teams, Nigeria’s Women Premier League still retains its abridged format, divided into two zones of 10.
Group A features: Bayelsa Queens, Adamawa Queens, Pacesetter Queens, Heartland Queens, Ekiti Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Ibom Angels, Castmog Ladies, Edo Queens FC and Rivers Angels.
Group B is led by last season’s runners up, Nasarawa Amazons, alongside Confluence Queens, Delta Queens, Sunshine Queens, Ahudiyannem Queens, Dannaz Ladies, Remo Stars Ladies, Osun Babes, Abia Angels and FC Robo Queens.
