Man, arraigned, for allegedly stealing tricycle worth N4 million

A 30-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Amechi, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a tricycle worth N4 million.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 23, 2025, at about 11:am at Ota-Ona area, Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.
According to him, the defendant conspired with others at large to steal a tricycle with Reg. N0 AGL771QR, belonging to a complainant, one Mr Saheed Okunubi.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was eventually arrested following police investigation.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, B. A Sonuga, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000, with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that the sureties’ addresses must be verified.
The court adjourned the case until February 12, for mention.
