Nasarawa reaffirms partnership with security agencies

The Nasarawa State government has reaffirmed its commitment to continued support for security agencies in the state in order to enhance their operations.
The Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Labaran Magaji, said this while receiving the state Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nasarawa State command, Anthony Sanda, in his office on Wednesday in Lafia.
He applauded the security agencies’ role and their invaluable contributions that brought about peace and stabilisation in Nasarawa State.
He stated, “We cannot thank you enough for what you are doing to stabilise and to consolidate the peace process initiated by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
“We appreciate your complementary efforts in ensuring that the governor succeeds in that regard, which made the state stand out amongst many other states with respect to peace.
“One thing that is very crucial is to assure you of the government’s continued support, not only to the Correctional Service, but every other security outfit in Nasarawa state.”
Mr Magaji said that society could be much better when correctional centres deliver on their mandate, noting that the service is the end product of every criminal and criminal activity.
“So, we are happy with what you are doing in the states, because very rarely do we see anybody going in there and coming out to be worse than when he went there.
“This shows that you are really delivering on your mandate as a correctional centre. Continue to do that so that society can be better.
“Continue to exercise the mandate that is given to you by the law establishing the agency, so that at the end, Nigeria will be a better country,” he said.
Earlier, NCoS, Controller, Nasarawa State Command, Anthony Sanda, said that the visit was to familiarise with the state government and to show appreciation for its unwavering support.
Mr Sanda, however, appealed for more support to enable the command to discharge its duty effectively.
