Lagos govt postpones youth leadership academy until February

The Lagos State ministry of youth and social development has announced the postponement of its Leadership Academy for Youth Programme to accommodate students currently writing examinations.
The ministry says that the programme earlier scheduled for January will now be held in February.
The Lagos State commissioner for youths and social development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, gave the announcement on Wednesday in Alausa.
The commissioner said that the new dates are designed to ensure maximum participation of young people in the state.
“We don’t want any eligible young person to be denied this once-in-a-year opportunity or sidelined for any reason.
“We have decided to shift the date earlier fixed for the annual leadership academy, popularly known as the IBILE Youth Ambassador Programme, for our youths.
“We are taking into cognisance the fact that most of them are currently writing their examinations,” he said.
According to him, the divisional training would run from February 9 to February 13; a one-day leadership seminar and alumni launch will be held on February 17, while a residential bootcamp will run from February 22 to February 28.
The Permanent Secretary, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, assured participants of a more enlightening and fun-filled experience.
She reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting young people’s academic responsibilities while providing leadership and capacity-building opportunities.
