The Progressive Youth Ambassadors on Thursday unveiled a grassroots sensitisation programme to promote public understanding of the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The group said the initiative would strengthen grassroots participation in policy implementation and consolidate support for Mr Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the statement, the programme was unveiled at a summit hosted by the secretary to the Lagos government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin. The summit was chaired by the chairperson of the Ogun–Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Hafsat Oduwole-Balewa, and attended by youth leaders and political stakeholders.

Its board of trustees’ chairman, Charles Olufemi, stated that the summit was designed to prepare participants for grassroots advocacy across wards and local governments.

“Participants will return to their communities to educate citizens on the rationale behind the reforms of President Bola Tinubu and their short- and long-term benefits,” Mr Olufemi said.

The statement listed key policies, including the removal of the fuel subsidy, tax reforms, foreign exchange unification, civil service reforms, and financial system re-engineering.

Other policy areas highlighted include job creation initiatives, MSME support, agricultural revitalisation, expansion of the digital economy, student loan reforms, infrastructure development, and restructuring of social investment.

It noted that many reforms, despite their long-term benefits, are often misunderstood or politicised, making sustained grassroots engagement critical to public acceptance.

Mr Olufemi likened the reform process to surgery, noting that temporary discomfort would result in lasting healing and shared prosperity.

According to the statement, Ms Salu-Hundeyin commended the youths for their commitment to progressive values and urged intensified grassroots mobilisation.

She encouraged participants to educate citizens on government efforts to address economic challenges and insecurity.

Ms Oduwole-Balewa said the administration’s policies were already attracting international investors back to Nigeria. She noted that increased investments would generate employment, boost revenue, and improve household livelihoods across communities.

She urged the youths to carry the sensitisation campaign to communities using local languages for wider reach.
