Gospel singer Tope Alabi becomes grandma as daughter welcomes baby

Popular Nigerian gospel singer Tope Alabi has announced the birth of her grandchild on social media.
Mrs Alabi took to Instagram to post a photo of herself holding a newborn, expressing gratitude to God and pride in her daughter, Ayomiku Alabi Bantale.
She wrote, “I’m eternally grateful to God for this joyful addition to my family. Indeed Ayomiku, ayo si kun inu. My beautiful, strong girl @the_ayomikualabi_1, I am so proud of the woman and mother you have become.
“Welcome to the world, my darling grandchild… Being your grandma is my new favourite role. Big congratulations to the Bantales.”
Her husband, Soji Alabi, also shared his excitement in a separate Instagram post, describing the moment as one of the proudest of his life.
“My heart is overflowing with joy! Ayomiku, watching you become a mother is one of the proudest moments of my life. Welcome to the world, my precious grandchild, Grandpa already loves you more than words can say,” he said.
The baby’s mother also confirmed the birth on her Instagram page, sharing a message accompanied by a Bible verse.
“Psalm 127:3. A love so pure, it feels like heaven. Our angel in human form is here and we are more than grateful to God for her,” she wrote.
Mrs Bantale married her husband, Oluwole Bantale, in a private ceremony on March 12, 2025.
The wedding was an intimate ceremony with only a few close friends and family members in attendance.
Footage from the private ceremony later surfaced online with different moments.
In one clip, Mr Alabi walked Ayomiku down the aisle, while another showed Mrs Alabi praying over the couple as Mrs Bantale knelt before her.
The couple later visited Bishop David Oyedepo for prayers.
Mrs Bantale has an interest in music following in her mother’s footsteps.
She studied music at Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, and has been involved in gospel ministry for years.
Mrs Alabi, who rose to prominence in the late 1990s, is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential gospel artistes, known for her Yoruba songs and powerful live ministrations.
News of her becoming a grandmother has since drawn congratulatory messages from fans and colleagues on social media.
