Ted Cruz, a U.S. lawmaker championing a campaign against alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria, has called on the American government to stop mass murder and abductions of Christians in Nigeria.

Mr Cruz made the call in reaction to the abduction of Christian worshippers in Kaduna State on January 18, describing the incident as an “evil” that continues to linger.

The American lawmaker charged the U.S. to use every leverage and sanction to end Christian genocide and mass abductions in Nigeria.

“We should use all of our leverage and sanctions to stop the mass murder and kidnapping of Christians,” Mr Cruz said.

Bandits had abducted about 177 Christians in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Since the abduction, none of those abducted have been rescued.
