Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday as Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Leeds United 4-0 at the Elland Road to extend the lead on the table to seven points.

Following the 3-2 loss to Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, Arsenal needed the win against Leeds United to stay further clear ahead of Manchester City in the title race.

Arsenal’s intensity paid off in the 27th minute when Martin Zubimendi put the Gunners ahead as he headed home a well-taken cross by Noni Madueke into the box.

The visitors doubled their lead 11 minutes later from the signature set piece routine as goalkeeper Karl Darlow directed a corner kick by Madueke into his own net as he tried to compete with teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewis.

Viktor Gyokeres further extended Arsenal’s lead in the 69th minute as the Sweden international lunged and prodded a cross by Gabriel Martinelli past the goalkeeper before Gabriel Jesus scored from an assist by Martin Odegaard to complete the rout.

The result meant that Arsenal will provisionally stay seven points clear of Manchester City in the title race. City will be on the road against Tottenham on Sunday.

In other matches, Brighton and Everton settled for 1-1. Pascal Gross put Brighton ahead in the 73rd minute before Beto scored a late equaliser for Everton just before the full time whistle.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth secured a 2-0 away win over struggling Wolves. Eli Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott scored both Bournemouth’s goals in the game.
