The minister of state for defence, Bello Matawalle, has received the immediate past sole administrator of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara, Yusuf Bindin, to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The state APC publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris, stated this in a statement issued in Gusau on Sunday.

Mr Idris said, “Bindin has today joined the multitudes of prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  defecting to the APC in Zamfara.

“Bindin defected from PDP to the APC and he was received by Matawalle in Abuja,” he said.

Mr Idris stated that Mr Bindin served his home local government area as a sole administrator for one year under Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.

“He was also appointed under the PDP-led administration in Zamfara as the programme manager, State Universal Basic  Education Board (SUBEB), a position he held until his decision to part ways with the PDP.”

Mr Idris quoted the defector as saying that his decision to join the APC followed series of discussions with his supporters and the conclusion that the PDP-led government’s machinery is no longer working and was worthy of abandonment.

“He thanked Matawalle for receiving and welcoming him and his supporters into the APC,” Mr Idris explained.

The minister, while receiving the new entrants at a gathering held at his Abuja residence, commended their decision and commitment to joining the APC.

Mr Matawalle said that APC,  which was home to all, would continue to receive many big and small politicians from all the opposition parties, especially the PDP in the state.

The minister assured that as members of the APC, they would always enjoy all the benefits coming to APC members at all times.

The event was witnessed by the state APC chairman, Tukur Danfulani, among others.
