Nollywood actress Aunty Ajara dies

Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, aka Aunty Ajara, has died following a prolonged illness.
Actor and producer Tobi Oladele, aka Teemoney, announced the actress’ death in a video shared online on Thursday, featuring the actress’ brother, Ridwan Lasisi, who confirmed the news.
“My name is Ridwan Lasisi, brother to Ajara. The doctor confirmed to us this morning that Ajara has passed on,” he said in the video.
In the caption accompanying the post, Mr Oladele expressed grief over the loss, revealing that the actress died overnight.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness,” he stated.
The actress’ sibiling added, “During this difficult period, Ajara received immense love, prayers, and financial support from kind-hearted people across the world. At this moment, we kindly urge family, friends, and the general public to please stop sending money to the previously shared account, as it is no longer required.”
Days before announcing her death, Mr Oladele had appealed publicly for financial assistance for the actress’ medical treatment, sharing a video of her on a hospital bed.
“Please, we need help. Ajara’s health condition has become more critical despite all the efforts so far. So much has already been spent on her treatment, with generous support from kind-hearted celebrities, actors, and individuals, yet the situation is getting worse,” he wrote at the time.
Ms Lasisi was 31 years old and was from Ogun.
Fondly called Aunty Ajara by fans and colleagues, she became popular in Nollywood’s Yoruba-speaking films for playing funny supporting roles, often portraying a dramatic neighbour, market woman, or outspoken relative.
