The chairman of Agege Local Government, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, on Friday, confirmed a partnership with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSSTF) to empower small businesses.

This is contained in a statement by Olayiwola Rasheed, the acting chief press secretary to the chairman, Agege Local Government.

Mr Obasa said the initiative targets traders, artisans, service providers and small manufacturers sustaining Agege’s economy while contributing to job creation and community development.

He said the collaboration reflects his administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship and building a resilient local economy driven by empowered small businesses.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. This partnership with LSETF is a deliberate step to strengthen that foundation,” he said.

Mr Obasa explained that beneficiaries would access financial support, structured capacity-building programmes and mentorship opportunities to help entrepreneurs scale operations and achieve sustainable growth.

“This initiative goes beyond funding. It equips entrepreneurs with skills, guidance and institutional support to grow, compete and succeed,” he said.

According to him, the collaboration aligns with Agege’s broader agenda of job creation, wealth generation and reducing economic vulnerability through enterprise development.

The chairman assured business owners that eligibility criteria and application processes would be communicated soon, urging prospective beneficiaries to stay engaged as implementation begins.

The partnership underscores Mr Obasa’s strategy of leveraging institutional collaborations to unlock opportunities, strengthen enterprises and promote inclusive growth across Agege.
