Terrorists launch fresh attack in Kwara
Terrorists have raided Gidan Sani village in the Tsaragi emirate area of Kwara, killing two people.
It was gathered that the incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, when the attackers invaded the community and targeted a family residence.
The police commissioner in Kwara, Adekimi Ojo, who spoke to journalists over the attack, said it was a case of attempted kidnapping, noting the terrorists had targeted the house of a miner in the village who was not at home during the incident.
“They (the terrorists) went to the man’s house but did not meet him. They then attempted to kidnap the father, but his wife resisted, and she was shot,” the police commissioner said.
Mr Ojo explained that while the father was shot in the leg, their 10-year-old daughter also sustained a gunshot injury in the leg.
“The woman later died from the gunshot wound. While the bandits were escaping, they shot another man. In all, two people lost their lives in the incident,” the police boss added.
The attack occurred days after Boko Haram invaded Woro and Nuku in Kaiama LGA of the state, killing hundreds of people while kidnapping several others.
