The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency says a fully loaded diesel tanker overturned and caught fire late Wednesday night along the Abeokuta Expressway inward Agege.

Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, permanent secretary of LASEMA, confirmed the incident on Thursday.

He said the fire was immediately contained, “while residual product burning in the drainage is being addressed.”

LASEMA officials and sister agencies were curtailing a tanker fire on the Abeokuta Expressway, inward Agege, on Wednesday night.

He said there were no fatalities, but one person sustained “burn injuries and is currently receiving treatment”.

Mr Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that although the tanker was damaged, the fire did not spread to surrounding properties.

“LASEMA is coordinating a multi-agency response with the Fire Service, Police, and LASTMA,” he said.
