Proprietor advises parents to teach children African culture
Proprietor of Unique Nursery and Primary School, Ilorin, Kwara State, Femi Eniola, on Friday urged parents to teach their children rich African culture, not foreign lifestyles.
Mr Eniola spoke during an interview, stressing that many parents neglect teaching children proper behaviour, respectful greetings, and decent dressing.
He said, “Civilisation should not take away African pride or the way we do things in Africa. Our identity must remain intact. Teach your children moral standards rooted in African culture. Decent dressing, good manners, and even native languages should be preserved at home.
“Living abroad should not make you abandon your culture and origin. African values, foods, and traditional dress must be taught to every child.”
The educationist advised parents to actively promote Africa’s rich cultural heritage and ensure it is passed on, warning against allowing foreign influence to erode it.
