The deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, says the task of delivering Abia to President Bola Tinubu in 2027 is bigger than his personal political ambitions.

Mr Kalu said this during his visit to the residence of Uchenna Jnr. Erondu, the lawmaker representing the Obingwa West Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly.

He urged everyone to join hands to achieve the goal for the country’s continued progress and growth.

Mr Kalu said, “We must deliver the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2027. The task of delivering the president here in my area is bigger than my personal political ambition.

“That is the truth, because he has been good to me like a father and leader, and I believe in his policies and agenda.

“He is bold to take decisions, and those decisions, though criticised by the public, are serving the public well today.”

Mr Kalu admitted that Nigeria was not yet where it ought to be, “but the point remains that we are not where we started.”

Meanwhile, Mr Kalu has called on Mr Erondu to join them in the APC and support Mr Tinubu’s reelection bid come 2027.

The deputy speaker said the essence of his visit was to congratulate Mr Erondu on his successful constituency empowerment programme in the Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.

He said the lawmaker’s time in the Peoples Democratic Party had expired, and it was time for him to join the ruling party and contribute to its growth and development.

Mr Kalu continued, “I want you to join us in the Renewed Hope Partners. They are those partnering with Mr President to project him from the grassroots to the national level.

“When we harvest young minds like you who are energetic and progressive, we can penetrate deeper into the grassroots.

“They said there is no APC in Abia State, but when our results came in for membership, it was huge.”

In his response, Mr Erondu assured the deputy speaker of delivering the president in Abia, especially in Abia South Senatorial District.

On his planned defection to the APC, the lawmaker promised to consult widely with his constituents and supporters before making a decision.
