Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Monday, passed three private member bills seeking to establish a College of Leadership and Entrepreneurship in Toto, and Lafia General Hospital.

The third bill passed after the third reading was the bill for the establishment of Nasarawa State Institute for Legislative, Democratic and Strategic Policy Studies in Andaha.

Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the House, announced the passage during plenary in Lafia.

He stated that the proposed college would provide specialised training in leadership and vocational skills to promote self-reliance among residents.

The bill for the college was sponsored by Muhammed Isimbabi, representing Toto/Gadabuke constituency.

Mr Jatau said the Lafia General Hospital bill, sponsored by Solomon Akwashiki of Lafia Central constituency, would improve the health status of people in the state if assented to.

He added that the bill establishing the Nasarawa State Institute for Legislative, Democratic and Strategic Policy Studies, Andaha, was sponsored by Larry Ven-Bawa, representing Akwanga North constituency.

The speaker directed the clerk of the House to produce clean copies of the bills for his vetting and onward transmission to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for assent.

Earlier, the majority leader, Suleiman Azara, moved motions for the three bills to scale third reading, while the minority leader, Luka Zhekaba, seconded the motions.

The House unanimously passed the bills.
