Administrative and human resource officers in the Lagos public service have been urged to embrace change and sharpen strategic skills to meet emerging challenges.

Olubusola Abidakun, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Establishments and Training, gave the charge at a two-day capacity-building programme on Monday in Alausa, Lagos.

Ms Abidakun stressed that continuous learning was indispensable in today’s evolving workplace.

Ms Abidakun said, “Learning agility is no longer optional for HR professionals. The public sector is changing rapidly, and officers must be prepared to adapt, think strategically and respond proactively to emerging challenges.”

Ms Abidakun explained that the programme was designed to upskill administrative officers with practical tools, relevant knowledge and resources to drive efficiency across the workforce.

“The effectiveness of any ministry, department and agency rests largely on the strength of its human resource management. This makes it essential for HR practitioners to remain solution-oriented and forward-thinking,” Ms Abidakun said.

Ms Abidakun urged participants to approach the sessions with open minds and maximise the opportunity to refresh their skills.

She described the programme as an investment in professional growth and in the continued development of the Lagos State Public Service.

More than 200 officers from various cadres attended the training.
