The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced tracking of over 31 executive and constituency projects valued at N3. 6 billion across the three senatorial districts of Ondo State.

Osove Andrew, who led the team, disclosed this on Tuesday in Akure.

Mr Andrew, Assistant Chief Superintendent of Investigation, ICPC, Ondo State, said the ongoing tracking falls under Phase 8 of the ICPC Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking (CEPT) programme.

He explained that projects across various sectors, including health, education, water supply, agriculture, special interventions and electrification would be tracked in each of the senatorial district.

He said, “It behoves on the commission to ensure that Federal Government projects, especially, constituency and executive projects are executed accordingly.

“Basically, we are tracking 31 constituency projects while visiting 60 locations across the senatorial districts of the state. ICPC must ensure that there is value for money in Federal Government projects and ensure that projects are executed to specifications according to the quality and quantity of items required, as agreed upon. However, if the agreement is violated, we instruct the contractor to go back to the site and do the needful or face sanctions.”

Mr Andrew, therefore, called on contractors and others handling government projects to ensure execution of projects accordingly.

A quantity surveyor and member of the team, Adelami Bayegun, charged contractors to deliver quality jobs for the betterment of the country.

He said, “At the sites we visited, we saw good projects, some are above quality and some below expectations.”

Some school head teachers and residents of the communities visited applauded the ICPC’s efforts, saying the tracking exercise would put the contractors on their toes and prompt them to do the needful.

The team is tracking installation of solar lights, construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, among others.
