Man, 54, arraigned over alleged N1.8 million land fraud in Ibadan

One Emmanuel Ilesanmi, 54, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, over an alleged N1.8 million land fraud.
Ilesanmi, whose address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence, stealing and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Femi Omilana, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2019, at Omi Adio area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N1.8 million from one Mrs Esther Odidi, with the pretext of purchasing two acres of land for her.
He alleged that the defendant failed to do so and therefore committed offences contrary to Sections 249(d), 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of two million naira with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until April 6, for hearing.
