Ramadan: Senator tasks Muslims on Islamic values

Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Sani Musa (APC-Niger East), has urged Nigerian Muslims to use the Ramadan period to showcase Islam’s virtues through good conduct.
In a goodwill message made available to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday, Mr Musa emphasised kindness, love for humanity, and avoidance of evil as key aspects of the holy month.
He stated that Ramadan promotes unity as well as equality, with the rich and poor sharing the experience of hunger, and called for refraining from exploitation and evil acts.
He stated, “Let us use this opportunity to put the best teachings of Islam into practice, such as kindness and love for humanity.
“This is an occasion for deep reflection, greater fear of Allah, and avoidance of all evils that harm humanity.”
Mr Musa said Ramadan was characterised by abstention from food and drinks from dawn to dusk, which brings both the rich and poor to share the experience of hunger, thereby strengthening bonds between the haves and have-nots.
He explained, “As we begin this 30-day fasting season, let us remember that Ramadan is not only about abstaining from eating and drinking, but also a reminder to refrain from all kinds of evil and transgressions that harm humanity.
“As we observe this important occasion in the spiritual life of Muslims, let us share food and drink with the less fortunate, for by sharing our blessings with others, Allah will multiply our rewards for good deeds
“I appeal to Muslim worshippers to pray for President Bola Tinubu and other leaders to ensure good democratic governance.”
