Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder, has cancelled his keynote address at the India AI Impact Summit in Delhi amid the Epstein files controversy.

The Gates Foundation, in a statement on Thursday, announced that the tech billionaire will not take his planned keynote speech at the summit after careful “consideration.”

“After careful consideration and to ensure the focus remains on the AI summit’s key priorities, Mr Gates will not be delivering his keynote address,” the statement reads in part.

Mr Gates’ cancellation of his speech delivery at the summit comes less than 48 hours after his Foundation had said he is “attending the AI Impact Summit” and “will be delivering his keynote as scheduled.”

Mr Gates’s withdrawal from the summit comes amid controversy over his dalliance with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, per documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice in January.

The released Epstein files revealed that Mr Gates once contracted a sexually transmitted disease from Russian girls but kept it secret from his ex-wife, Melinda.
