Ondo driver arraigned for allegedly assaulting woman

The magistrate adjourned the case until March 3 for further hearing.

A 40-year-old commercial driver, Kolade Olowosusi, on Thursday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, over alleged assault on one Bukola Ayegbeni

The defendant, whose address was not given is facing a two-count charge of assault and misdemeanour.

The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant on committed the offences at 6.00pm.on December 5, 2025, at Omawa Street in Okitipupa.

Mr Omoyeigha, said that the defendant assaulted the complaint by beating her with stick during an argument.

He disclosed the assault caused injuries on her body.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 517 and 355, Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.

The Chief Magistrate, Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.

He added that the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction and show evidence of two years tax payment to the state government.

He,adjourned the case until March 3, for further hearing.
