The people of Omu-Aran in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have handed over three buses and four motorcycles to security agencies to tackle banditry, kidnappings and other related crimes in the area.

The buses and motorcycles were earlier purchased by the members of the Eminent Club of Omu-Aran and handed over to the Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA) during the last “Odun Omu-Aran Festival” held in December 2025.

It was handed over as part of the club’s corporate social responsibility to the community.

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Abdulraheem Adeoti, while presenting the keys of the buses and motorcycles to the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the vigilance groups in his palace on Thursday in Omu-Aran, said it was aimed at complementing the state government’s efforts to bolster security.

Recall that the activities of bandits through killings and kidnappings have become worrisome in the last six months, especially in some communities in the seven local governments that make up the Kwara South Senatorial District.

Mr Adeoti, who applauded the members of the club for their generosity and foresight, described the donation as a major boost towards assisting the security agencies in their routine and special operations.

The traditional ruler said the club had, through intervention, demonstrated its love and affection for the welfare and well-being of the people of the community.

Mr Adeoti commended the state government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its various interventions on insecurity, including the joint partnership with the office of the National Security Adviser and the ongoing recruitment and training of over 600 forest guards to boost security in the district.

The traditional ruler also urged the State Security Service (SSS) to ensure proper profiling of individuals who had recently settled in the community.

He further advised the residents to refrain from harbouring unknown visitors without proper identification, emphasising vigilance and collective responsibility in safeguarding the community.

Niyi Adekeye, the President of the Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA), Niyi Adekeye, expressed the readiness of the people of the community to complement the state government’s efforts in ensuring the adequate protection of lives and property.

The Divisional Police Officer, Omu-Aran Police Division, Awobaikun Olattunde, described the donation as very timely and beneficial.

Mr Olatunde said the donation would assist the division in no small measure in combating crimes in the area, promising to use the vehicles properly.
