UK-based Nigerian teenager Jackson Uwagboe sentenced to life in prison for murder

A Nigerian teenager based in the UK, Jackson Uwagboe, has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering 21-year-old Robert Robinson in the UK.
The UK Metropolitan Police, in a statement on Wednesday, announced that Mr Uwagboe was sentenced to life imprisonment at the Old Bailey Court.
“Jackson Uwagboe, 19, of Hamilton Street, Lewisham, was found guilty at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 10 February, of murdering 21-year-old Robert Robinson in a dispute over a stolen bicycle,” the police said.
The judgment stipulated that Mr Uwagboe will spend at least 21 years in prison before being eligible for release.
Mr Uwagboe’s co-defendant, Eromosele Omoluogbe, 24, was convicted earlier this month of perverting the course of justice by facilitating his trip to Heathrow Airport in order to escape to Nigeria.
Before Mr Uwagboe’s life sentence, two other men, Ryan Wedderburn, 18, and Kirk Harris, had been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment over Mr Robert’s murder at the Old Bailey in May last year.
Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, who led the investigation into Robert’s murder, lauded the judgment, saying, “Today’s verdict brings justice for Robert Robinson and his family. Robert was subjected to a brutal and sustained attack by a group of men armed with knives. He was unarmed, already wounded, and on the ground when Uwagboe attacked him.”
