Super Eagles to play Iran, Jordan in March as Nigeria awaits 2026 FIFA World Cup verdict
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles will face Iran and Jordan in a four-nation tournament during the next international break in March.
In a statement on Friday, the federation said that the three-time African champions will take on Iran in their first game of the mini tournament at the 17,000-capacity Amman International Stadium March 27, 2026.
On the same day, the host nation Jordan will face Costa Rica at the 62,000-capacity King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, also in Amman.
Four days later, Nigeria will remain at the same stadium to tackle Jordan while Iran and Costa Rica face each other at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
The announcement came as Nigeria awaits FIFA’s verdict in the case filed by the NFF seeking to disqualify DR Congo from the 2026 FIFA Playoff Intercontinental Tournament schedule to take play during the next international break.
The federation accused the Central African country of fielding ineligible players during the Super Eagles’ penalty shootout loss in the final of Africa’s playoffs phase last year to secure the sole ticket to the last playoffs tournament.
