Premier League leaders Arsenal regained their five-point lead ahead of Manchester City following a dominant 4-1 win over North London rivals Tottenham at home to secure their first league win in three matches.

The game was a must-win for Arsenal in the battle for league title this season after City, which still have one game in hand, secured a 2-1 over Newcastle United in their own match on Saturday to temporarily cut the lead to two points.

Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for the visitors in the 32nd minute after the former Crystal Palace player bounced a deflected pass into the box by Bukayo Saka before putting the air-bound ball into the next.

It took Tottenham two minutes to respond after Randal Kolo Muani utilised a mistake by Declan Rice, with the French international drawing the ball into the box before firing a low shot past David Raya.

Arsenal restored the lead just two minutes after the break through Viktor Gyokeres, who received a pass 18 yards from goal and immediately curled the ball into the net.

Eze got his brace in the 61st minute when Saka dragged goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario off the line but lost possession at crucial moment, with the ball eventually making its way into Eze’s feet who calmly slotted it home.

Gyokeres also bagged his own brace deep into added time after the Sweden international latched an assist from Martin Odegaard into the top corner of the net to seal the victory for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Tottenham remain 16th on the table with 29 points, only four away from relegation zone. It was Igor Tudor’s first game in charge of Tottenham as head coach after he replaced Thomas Frank, sacked almost two weeks ago.
