Nick Reiner pleads not guilty to parents’ murder

Nick Reiner, son of Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner, has pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of first-degree murder in the death of his parents, Rob and Michele Steiner.
The 32-year-old entered a plea on Monday during an arraignment at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Prosecutors accused the younger Reiner of fatally stabbing his parents multiple times in their bedroom on December 14, 2025, before fleeing the scene, after an argument had ensued between himself and his father the previous day.
He was arrested later that day and charged by Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders.
He was charged with murder with special circumstances, could be subject to the death penalty if found guilty or face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The younger Reiner was a co-writer with his father, Mr Reiner, on the 2015 semi-autobiographical film, “Being Charlie.”
A preliminary hearing, where a judge will determine whether there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial, has been scheduled for April 29, 2026.
