BPP to host consultative meetings with contractors, stakeholders in Lagos

The Bureau of Public Procurement is set to host a stakeholder forum to engage contractors, consultants, service providers, and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s public procurement ecosystem.
In a statement on Tuesday, the bureau said the forum would be organised with the support of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement.
It said that the training was one of the bureau’s mandatory capacity-building programmes for all public sector procurement officers to adhere to, in line with the federal government’s extant circulars.
The statement disclosed that the meeting is scheduled for Thursday, at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, at 10:00 a.m. It mentioned that the meeting aims to discuss the Methodology for Assessing Procurement Systems framework and its role in strengthening public procurement processes in the country.
It listed the key objectives of the meeting to include engaging contractors, consultants, service providers, and civil society organisations in a dialogue on the MAPS framework and its benefits for Nigeria’s procurement system.
Another objective, it said, was to provide stakeholders with opportunities to offer feedback and input on the development of a National Procurement Strategy.
The statement added that the meeting would align Nigeria’s procurement reform agenda with the roles of all stakeholders in its successful implementation.
He said participants expected at the meeting include representatives of government institutions, private-sector operators, professional bodies, civil society organisations, and development partners involved in procurement oversight, advocacy, and service delivery.
