Simi: NAPTIP to probe alleged child molestation at daycares

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has said it will probe credible reports concerning alleged child sexual abuse and misconduct in daycare settings across Nigeria.
The agency in a public notice on its official page on Tuesday, promised to commence investigations after gathering credible reports.
“Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria,
committed to thoroughly investigating credible reports,” the notice read.
The agency urged anyone with factual information, evidence, or direct knowledge of incidents referenced in recent viral posts to come forward confidentially via direct message or email at info@naptip.gov.ng.
NAPTIP is the federal agency responsible for combating human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse, with a particular focus on protecting vulnerable groups such as women and children.
The notice followed the resurfacing of old X posts of Nigerian singer Simisola Bolatito Kosoko aka Simi, which she made while helping at her mother’s daycare.
Some of the posts made in her early 20’s describing her interactions with children have attracted widespread criticisms.
The 37-year-old artiste later addressed the tweets, saying she was not famous at the time and that the posts reflected innocent aspects of her life.
She insisted that nothing she shared was from perversion, addingthat her team had been deleting some of the tweets due to their sensitive nature and how it would affect her family.
The agency urged anyone personally affected by incidents in the viral post to reach out confidentially.
