The Organisation of Islamic Corporation has condemned a terrorist attack in Zamfara State where several people were killed and others kidnapped.

In a statement on Tuesday, the organisation decried the attack as heinous.

“The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Corporation (OIC) has condemned in the strongest terms the heinous attacks committed on 21 February 2026 in Zamfara State, northwestern Nigeria, which resulted in the killing of dozens of innocent civilians and the abduction of women and children,” the statement said.

Expressing its solidarity with Nigeria, the organisation decried terrorism and violent extremism in its forms and manifestations.

The OIC also demanded immediate release of the abducted victims.

“The secretary general reiterated the OIC’s support for Nigeria’s efforts to establish security, peace and stability,” the organisation said.

Last week, terrorists attacked Dutsin Dan Ajiya village, situated in the Hanka LGA of Zamfara State, killing about 38 people and abducted an unspecified number of villagers, including children and women.

The police spokesman, Yazid Abubakar, explained that operatives had difficulty reaching the affected location, citing the need to cross two rivers, which delayed a prompt response to the distress call.

Mr Abubakar stated, “What happened was that to get to the village, Dutse Dan Ajiya, you must cross two rivers. When we received the distress call, we mobilised to the village. But, unfortunately, our vehicles got stuck on the road because of the terrain, so by the time we navigated the terrain and got there, the havoc had already been done.”
