The Chief Imam of Force Headquarters Mosque, Alhassan Yakub, has commended the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for distributing food items to some police families during Ramadan.

Mr Yakub gave the commendation on Friday in Abuja during the distribution of food items provided by the PCRC to some police families.

He said the sermon in the mosque for the day highlighted the benefits of Ramadan fast.

The cleric said Ramadan was a period of reflection and advancement, spiritually, economically, socially, and morally.

He said the PCRC was part of the Nigeria Police Force family that had been of support to the force in the period of fasting.

He stated, “As you are aware, we are in the month of Ramadan, and Ramadan is a month of blessing. PCRC is always here to support police families, and I think it is a demonstration of love and promotion of unity.

“It is a month that brings us together to take care of ourselves, our brothers, sisters, to promote unity and pray for the country. We pray for peace and continuous progress in Nigeria. We pray for endless blessing and guidance for our leaders  for in their decisions.”

In his remark, the Acting Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, urged muslims and non-muslims to be law abiding.

He said Ramadan was a period of looking inward, talking to God and engaging in spiritual cleansing.

The police chief commended the PCRC for its long time support to the Nigeria Police Force.

The IG stated, “The message I have for them is to tell them thank you, to let them know that we appreciate them. They are a wonderful set of people, who have left their homes and jobs, to come and attend to the needs of others.”

The PCRC National Chairman, Mogaji Olaniyan, said the distribution of food items in the period of Ramadan and Christmas was an established tradition in PCRC.

Mr Olaniyan noted, “We celebrate and support our dedicated police officers and men during the Christmas and Ramadan seasons. This gesture is part of our commitment to boosting morale, strengthening partnership, and appreciating their unwavering service to the nation.”

He said PCRC had concluded plans to distribute over 6,000 packages to police families.

Mr Olaniyan said that the PCRC was also visited the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Ministry of Police Affairs to present Ramadan palliatives to officers.
