The Katsina State commissioner of police, Bello Shehu, on Saturday, presented cheques amounting to N32.3 million to the families of six officers who died in active service.

Presenting cheques to beneficiaries in Katsina, Mr Shehu said the gesture was under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident scheme, aimed at bringing succour to the families of the deceased officers.

The CP was represented by the deputy commissioner of police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Aminu Usman-Gusau.

He appreciated Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu for his magnanimity towards the families of the deceased police officers, who paid the supreme price while in active service to the nation.

The CP then called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to meet the scheme’s objective.

Mr Shehu prayed for the repose of the departed souls.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hamza Surajo thanked the IGP for what he described as a kind gesture and promised to make good use of the money to improve their lives.

He prayed for God’s guidance to the leadership of the command and the police force in general.
